Marley's Ghost BACK PATCH: Mankind Was My Business - | A Christmas Carol | victorian | anticapitalist | spirits

$10.00
A Christmas Carol is a heartwarming story about a capitalist old miser being haunted so hard he becomes a better person. It's sad that the most unbelievable part of the story is that a few ghosts is all it would take to effect that change.

This incredibly niche patch quotes and depicts my favorite scene from the book, when the ghost of Jacob Marley castigates Scrooge for praising him as a business man:

“But you were always a good man of business, Jacob,” faltered Scrooge, who now began to apply this to himself.
“Business!” cried the Ghost, wringing its hands again. “Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all, my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!”

If interested, the text for the short story is available for free by Project Gutenberg.

This patch is sized as a back batch, printed on stretch denim using silver fabric ink.
The patch is sized to provide extra fabric at the edges to allow hemming.
